CCD sensors are preferred when higher reliability and superior image quality are required, particularly in low-light (low dose) situations. This is the reason why imaging satellites such as the Hubbell telescope and the US Military continue to use CCD technology when image quality and dependability are mandatory.

Most dental sensor manufacturers have transitioned to lower-cost CMOS, which is notably used in cell phone cameras. CMOS is excellent in high light situations, but have you ever noticed that your cell phone doesn't produce good images in the dark…blame CMOS.

NOTE: IF YOU CURRENTLY OWN VERSION 3.12 OR BELOW, YOU WILL NEED TO PURCHASE THE XRAYVISION 4 UPGRADE FROM APTERYX OR YOUR AUTHORIZED DEALER.

Please read the following notes regarding upgrading from version 3 to version 4:

1. It is recommended that you perform the upgrade when the software will not need to be used for a sufficient period of time to ensure that the software has been upgraded successfully and any new configuration has been completed.
2. There may be an upgrade fee associated with upgrading to the new 4.x version of the software. Please check with your sales representative regarding upgrade fees.
3. Version 4 of the software will require obtaining a new registration number. Please check with your sales representative to receive your new registration number(s).
4. Upgrading from older versions may require reconfiguration of your toolbar and/or toolbox buttons.
5. Upgrading from version 3.11 (or earlier) will also require you to update all of the plugins and extensions that you have installed.

Development for XrayVision 3 has officially ended. All new feature development and hardware integration will be intended for XrayVision 4. Apteryx cannot guarantee compatibility of future hardware features or imaging extensions within XV3. Apteryx recommends that you keep your system current and continue to update to the most current version.

This section includes plugins for imaging devices such as intraoral sensors, cameras, panoramic and CBCT units, phosphor plate scanners, etc. These plugins will work with both XrayVision and XVLite. Apteryx cannot guarantee compatibility of the latest imaging plugins with XrayVision 3. We recommend updating to XrayVision 4 to maintain support with future hardware updates.

The following Practice Management DataDrills are provided for legacy support purposes, and may not be compatible with the latest versions.

DataDrills are used by DataGrabber to retrieve basic patient information from the Practice Management database. DataGrabber then opens the selected patient in the imaging software, in order to capture or view images for that patient.

The following Practice Management DataDrills are provided for legacy support purposes, and may not be compatible with the latest versions.

These bridges allow DataGrabber to send patient information to a third party imaging software, in order to capture or view images for a specific patient.

NOTE: DataGrabber supports additional imaging systems not listed here.

Imaging extensions are ported over to the DCV product on an as-needed basis, and not all imaging extensions may be displayed on this page. Please contact Apteryx Technical Support and let us know what imaging/hardware extension you need.
